Layers of Light and Line is a multilayered approach which allows the artist more flexibility and options to best retain previous layers and build on their luminous qualities. By switching out various water, alcohol, and oil-based mediums in varied layers you can achieve nuances with depth, line, and illusory light.


This course combines a bit of chance taking and intuitive mark-making along with sound guidance, input on problem solving, and allowing the creative juices to flow!


Would you like to be more experimental but also want to feel more confident that “playing” will result in quality finished work? This course will give you some great new ways to explore and express!

Dive into a multitude of processes utilizing:
  • Alcohol Inks,
  • Brusho Colors,
  • ArtGraf,
  • Watercolor,
  • Acrylic,
  • and Oils,

on White Yupo paper and Translucent Yupo paper.

Yupo paper is a unique and versatile synthetic paper that's beloved by many artists for its distinct qualities. It is has a non-porous surface, is water resistant & durable. 

In this class, you will:
Explore the best products and procedures for adhering layers.





Have the option to post images of the work, finished and in progress, to receive feedback during Zoom times and comments through the platform. 





Learn ways to arrange and layer components for strong compositions to bring your eye around the piece in satisfying ways, as you bring your work to fruition. 





  • Effect Yupo papers with ArtGraf - responding to images or abstractions, then add alcohol inks, Brusho powders, watercolor acrylic and oils. 


  • Experiment with these methods in various ways – changing up the order of approach for numerous outcomes.



  • Experiment how and when to use the translucent Yupo.  


  • Learn how to cut and collage Yupo pieces (optional).
